Lead Hardware Engineer / Head of Hardware Responsibilities

  • Oversee the mechanical and electrical design of rope inspection systems, ensuring seamless integration of optical, mechanical, and electronic components.
  • Actively participate in design engineering by reworking components and systems to enhance performance, quality, and manufacturability, including hands-on CAD ownership.
  • Evaluate and approve components based on functional requirements, cost-efficiency, and supply chain dependability.
  • Develop technical solutions, including defining PCBs, electrical circuits (e.g., switches, relays, breakers), enclosures, and thermal systems.
  • Apply design principles focused on manufacturability (DFM) and ease of assembly (DFA) to streamline production and maintenance.
  • Partner with software and computer vision teams to ensure hardware designs maximize system performance.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams across software engineering, machine learning, product development, and customer success.
  • Serve as the primary engineering liaison for manufacturers and suppliers.

 

Lead Hardware Engineer / Head of Hardware Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Hardware Engineer / Head of Hardware role
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in product development and production.
  • In-depth knowledge of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360), electrical design, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
