Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer required for a renowned defence manufacturer based in Portsmouth.
 
The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer will ideally have experience within a relevant industry – engineering, manufacturing, medical, aerospace or defence.
 
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer also have a relevant engineering qualification, e.g. mechanical or chemical engineering

Role
Responsible for the production of engineering drawings
Using Solidworks CAD software to produce engineering drawings
Create, support and main project specific documentation including; FMEAs, design reviews, design calculations and reliability calculations
Providing relevant information to Project Managers to enable accurate project planning
Identify and evaluate technical risks to the Project Managers
Report on the content and progress of projects to the Design Manager
You will be working in a highly regulated part of the defence industry.
Support the selection of components to meeting the customer specific project documentation
Receive and implement company specifications and standards from various departments
Update and maintain parts detail, sub assemblies and bill of materials in the operations database
 
Requirements
Degree qualified in a relevant discipline – Mechanical / Chemical Engineering
Previous experience in a senior / team lead position
Experience gained within a relevant engineering industry such as – medical, aerospace, defence or manufacturing
Proficiency in 3D design package such as Solidworks. Although any 3D design package
Must hold an SC (Security Clearance) or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance
Commutable to Portsmouth
