Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Engineer required to join a specialist engineering manufacturer in the Midlands.
Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Engineer will be an experienced engineering professional with a background in automotive, mechanical, or electro-mechanical systems. You’ll bring proven expertise in 3D CAD, applications/specification engineering, and supporting technical projects with both internal teams and external customers.
Working as part of a small, close-knit engineering department, you’ll play a key role in supporting product specification, technical problem-solving, and industry projects. The role involves liaising with customers on braking and suspension systems, contributing to telematics and monitoring developments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and trade body requirements.
Package:
- Up to £50,000 (Depending on experience)
- Annual bonus (equivalent to approx. 8% of salary)
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays

- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Roles:
- Produce and review 3D CAD models of components and assemblies
- Support customers with braking, trailer and suspension system specifications
- Perform engineering calculations for trailer designs
- Contribute to telematics and monitoring projects (testing & validation)
- Liaise with trade bodies and government on compliance/regulation
- Work closely with quality, technical services, and wider engineering teams
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a design or applications engineering role (automotive, mechanical, or electro-mechanical sector preferred)
- Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering discipline
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar)
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems; exposure to electronics/telematics advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer-facing skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Must be commutable to the Midlands
