Our client, an established and award-winning interior design firm in Manhattan, is looking for an Interior Designer to join its growing Workplace practice in New York. The studio delivers corporate interiors for a strong portfolio of financial, legal, nonprofit and commercial clients.
This is an opportunity to take a meaningful role in projects from the earliest planning stages through construction and completion. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, collaborate directly with clients and have the opportunity to influence both the creative and technical direction of each project.
The position would suit a designer with 5–8 years of experience who is ready for greater project ownership and wants a clear path toward a lead role.
The role:
-
Deliver workplace projects from programming and test fits through design development, construction documents and construction administration
-
Develop space plans, block and stack studies and furniture layouts
-
Create design concepts, material and finish palettes, FF&E selections and presentation packages
-
Produce and coordinate construction drawings, interior details and millwork packages
-
Work directly with clients to understand their requirements and present design solutions
-
Coordinate with consultants, vendors, manufacturers and contractors throughout project delivery
-
Review RFIs and submittals and participate in site visits and punch walks
-
Maintain design intent and quality from concept through installation
-
Support and mentor junior designers while developing toward greater project leadership
What we’re looking for:
-
5–8 years of professional interior design experience
-
Strong background in corporate workplace, commercial interiors or tenant improvement projects
-
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a related discipline
-
Strong Revit and AutoCAD skills
-
Experience with SketchUp, Enscape or similar visualization software and Adobe Creative Suite
-
Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, accessibility and relevant building codes
-
Experience with finish, furniture and FF&E selection and specification
-
Confidence presenting design ideas and working directly with clients
-
Strong communication, coordination and organizational skills
-
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple projects and deadlines
NCIDQ, LEED, WELL or similar professional accreditation is desirable.
