A Director of Project Controls is required to build and lead the project controls function for a portfolio of large-scale power generation projects supporting data center infrastructure.

This is a senior EPC leadership role with responsibility for establishing governance, standards, systems and reporting across planning, scheduling, cost and contract controls, and document controls. The Director of Project Controls will provide portfolio-level visibility on cost, schedule, contract status and risk, supporting executive decision-making as projects move from development through construction and operation.

The Director of Project Controls Role:

  • Build, lead and manage the project controls function across planning, scheduling, contract controls, cost controls and document controls.
  • Define team structure, responsibilities, escalation routes, performance standards and workload allocation.
  • Hire, onboard, mentor and manage schedulers, cost and contract analysts, document control specialists and project controls coordinators.
  • Establish front-end planning standards, including work breakdown structures, baseline schedules, baseline budgets and execution planning.
  • Own integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, including critical path management, progress measurement, baseline control and recovery planning.
  • Lead portfolio cost forecasting, budgeting, earned value, cost-to-complete, contingency management, variance analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Oversee contract controls through the EPC build phase, including change control, claims support, liquidated damages defense and commercial compliance.
  • Establish portfolio-wide document control standards and systems, including Procore, transmittals, submittals, RFIs, revisions and records management.
  • Provide executive and board-level reporting on cost, schedule, contract status, forecast and project risk.
  • Act as the project controls point of credibility for investors, lenders, customers and Independent Engineer reviews.

Director of Project Controls Requirements:

  • 15+ years of project controls experience within power, energy, infrastructure or large-scale EPC environments.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading a project controls function.
  • Proven experience building, staffing and managing a project controls team across multiple control disciplines.
  • Track record supporting GW-scale or $1bn+ projects through construction and commercial operation.
  • Strong project controls experience across planning, scheduling, cost control, contract management, document control, forecasting and earned value.
  • Advanced Primavera P6 experience.
  • Experience with document control systems and portfolio-level standards, ideally including Procore.
  • Experience supporting project financing, investor reporting, lender reporting or Independent Engineer reporting.
  • Strong understanding of EPC delivery models and contract-driven execution.
  • Ability to work closely with Development, Finance, Legal, Accounting and executive leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, finance or a related discipline.
  • Full-time Dallas presence required.

Desirable Experience:

  • PMP or PSP certification.
  • Experience in power generation or comparable large-scale power infrastructure.
