Field Service Technician - Generators and Switchgear

Location: Arkansas Field-Based (Travel Required)

Compensation: $45-$55 per hour, 401k with 6% company match

 

We are looking for a skilled Power Field Technician / Power Generation Technician / Switchgear Technician to join a company with an aggressive growth plan (from $30M to $300M revenue in the next 5–10 years), where career stability, collaboration, and long-term opportunity are at the heart of the culture.

 

You will be a Generator and Switchgear specialist, comfortable on the installation, commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting!

 

Compensation:

Pay: $45-£55/hour

Relocation Bonus: $5,000

Power Field Technician / Power Generation Technician / Switchgear Technician Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel/gas engines, generators, switchgear, and electrical systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, load bank testing, system inspections, and switchgear testing/maintenance to ensure reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues across power generation and distribution systems using manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software.
  • Complete service reports, work orders, and documentation accurately.
  • Communicate with coordinators, management, and clients about job status, parts, and next steps.
  • Assist with start-ups, commissioning, and testing of new generator and switchgear installations.
  • Take part in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours calls as needed.

 

Power Field Technician / Power Generation Technician / Switchgear Technician Key Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience servicing diesel or gas engines, generators, switchgear, or related equipment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar, Cummins, or similar power generation systems a plus.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and switchgear layouts.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 50% overnight).
