Take ownership of a multidisciplinary engineering function spanning systems, electronics, mechanical design and system integration. This Hardware & System Engineering Manager position offers broad technical leadership across the complete development lifecycle of complex electronic and electromechanical products.

The Hardware & System Engineering Manager Role:

  • Lead, coach and develop teams covering System Design, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and System Integration.
  • Manage engineering leaders, set priorities and allocate resources across multiple development programmes.
  • Oversee system architecture and the translation of product and customer requirements into clear system and subsystem specifications.
  • Maintain technical oversight from concept and detailed design through prototyping, system integration, verification, validation and manufacturing release.
  • Lead technical reviews and ensure engineering decisions balance performance, quality, cost, manufacturability, maintainability, reliability and risk.
  • Coordinate integration across electronic, mechanical, firmware and software disciplines, supporting teams with complex technical challenges.
  • Monitor engineering deliverables, capacity, dependencies and technical risks while working closely with Software, Firmware, Product Management, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain.
  • Support technical collaboration with external engineering partners, suppliers and research organisations, alongside departmental budgeting, recruitment and capability development.

Hardware & System Engineering Manager Requirements:

  • Significant experience developing complex electronic, electromechanical or multidisciplinary engineered products.
  • Proven Engineering Manager, R&D Manager, Functional Leader, Head of Engineering or similar multidisciplinary technical leadership experience.
  • Strong people-management experience, including coaching, objective setting, performance management and employee development.
  • Experience managing senior engineers and/or Engineering Team Leaders.
  • Good understanding of Systems Engineering, including requirements analysis, system architecture and interface management.
  • Broad understanding of electronic and mechanical engineering principles, alongside system integration, verification and validation.
  • Full product-development lifecycle experience covering concept, architecture, prototyping, testing, industrialisation and production release.
  • Fluent Italian and a good level of written and spoken English.

Experience with radar, RF electronics, signal processing, complex measurement equipment, modelling or simulation would be advantageous but is not essential. Exposure to Siemens NX, Teamcenter, requirements-management tools, laboratory equipment or C/C++ would also be beneficial.

The Hardware & System Engineering Manager will be based primarily on-site in Pisa due to the hands-on nature of product development, laboratory testing, prototyping and system integration. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
