An Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is required for a power generation facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida, offering $50 - $57 per hour.

This Electrical & Instrumentation Technician position offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of power plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), turbine and generator controls, switchgear, and protective relaying.

The role is suited to an experienced industrial electrical or instrumentation technician who enjoys technical troubleshooting, maintaining critical equipment, and improving plant reliability. Experience within power generation, particularly combined-cycle facilities, would be highly advantageous.

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician - Power Plant Benefits:

  • $50 - $57 per hour

  • Overtime opportunities associated with plant maintenance, outages, and emergency callouts

  • Exposure to electrical, instrumentation, and automation technologies within power generation

  • Involvement in planned outages, equipment reliability improvements, and complex fault investigations

  • Opportunities to participate in technical training and professional development

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician - Power Plant Role:

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems within a power generation facility.

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair DCS, PLCs, HMIs, industrial communication networks, and associated control equipment.

  • Inspect, test, calibrate, and repair process instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement devices.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot turbine and generator controls, excitation systems, protective relays, and associated electrical equipment.

  • Diagnose faults involving switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, motor control centers, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and electrical distribution systems.

  • Test and verify plant interlocks, alarms, protective devices, emergency shutdown systems, control valves, and actuators.

  • Support planned and emergency maintenance outages, equipment failure investigations, and root cause analysis to improve plant reliability.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration documentation, and equipment histories using Maximo while working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel.

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician - Power Plant Requirements:

  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical, instrumentation, or control systems.

  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical distribution, process instrumentation, control systems, and associated maintenance practices.

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, control logic diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Understanding of electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout, arc-flash protection, and relevant industrial safety standards.

  • High school diploma or GED, supported by relevant technical education, vocational training, apprenticeship, military training, or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to work safely in an operational power plant environment, including elevated platforms, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions.

  • Valid Florida driver's license.

  • Availability for overtime, emergency callouts, scheduled outages, and occasional travel to other power generation facilities.

Desirable Experience:

  • Three or more years of industrial electrical, instrumentation, or controls maintenance experience.

  • Previous experience within power generation, ideally combined-cycle power plants.

  • Knowledge of turbine and generator control systems, excitation systems, protective relaying, and industrial automation.

  • Experience with continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS), instrumentation calibration programs, and Maximo.
