Power Plant Mechanic – Combined Cycle Power Plant

A leading independent power producer is seeking a Power Plant Mechanic to support the safe, reliable operation of its combined-cycle power plants. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this hands-on role involves installing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment, piping, valves, and machinery.
This role is ideal for an experienced mechanic with strong safety awareness and expertise in power generation equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and inspect plant equipment including pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, compressors, and turbine components.
- Perform piping and conduit installation for system upgrades and modifications.
- Operate welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment for maintenance tasks.
- Read meters, gauges, and automatic devices to monitor operating conditions.
- Support the preventive maintenance program, including CMMS use and trending data collection.
- Assist with spare parts inventory control to ensure plant reliability.
- Work extended hours and varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum four years’ experience as a power plant mechanic, millwright, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in overhauling valves, pumps, compressors, and other balance-of-plant equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools, electric/pneumatic tools, rigging equipment, and basic fabrication tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physically capable of extended standing, stair/ladder climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Education & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Protective equipment use (hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, etc.) as needed.
- Experience handling hazardous materials safely.
