Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Generation
Dallas, TX | Travel to project sites

Verto People is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer for an energy infrastructure developer delivering new power generation projects.

You’ll take responsibility for electrical engineering from initial design through construction, energization and handover. The scope includes generation, energy storage and HV/MV distribution, working closely with equipment suppliers, EPC contractors and wider engineering teams.

This role suits an engineer who wants to stay involved beyond design, see projects through delivery and help resolve the practical challenges that arise on site.

The role

  • Develop electrical concepts, single-line diagrams and distribution arrangements during feasibility and FEED.

  • Define equipment requirements and assess grid connections, system protection and power quality.

  • Undertake or review load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash and grounding studies.

  • Review EPC designs, calculations and construction drawings, managing technical changes and their impact on delivery.

  • Prepare procurement specifications, evaluate bids and review supplier documentation for major electrical equipment.

  • Support factory testing, site inspections and installation quality checks.

  • Resolve construction queries and coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, civil and controls teams.

  • Develop and review testing procedures, supporting commissioning, energization, synchronization and final handover.

Your background

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.

  • At least eight years of experience in power generation, renewables or industrial electrical systems.

  • Experience across design, procurement, construction and commissioning.

  • Strong knowledge of HV/MV networks, protection systems and grid interconnection.

  • Proficiency in ETAP, PSCAD or comparable power system analysis software.

  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE and IEC requirements.

  • Practical experience reviewing detailed electrical drawings and supporting installation and testing.

Experience working for an owner, engineering consultancy or EPC contractor on generation projects would be valuable. Exposure to microgrids, battery storage or solar integration is also relevant. A PE license, or the ability to obtain one, would be advantageous.
