About the Role
Verto People is working with a highly respected architecture and design practice in New York City to identify a Senior Interior Designer who thrives on leading teams and managing complex projects from concept through delivery. This is not a purely design-focused role, it’s ideal for someone who enjoys project orchestration, team mentoring, and direct coordination with consultants and clients across significant cultural, public, and hospitality projects.
What We’re Looking For
- Leading multidisciplinary interior design teams within large-scale or high-profile projects
- Strong coordination experience across architecture, consultants, and client teams
- Deep understanding of the full project lifecycle, from early concept through construction administration
- Experience with cultural venues, civic or educational buildings, public spaces, or high-end hospitality
- High design literacy paired with operational rigour, able to ensure creative intent is delivered within timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor junior and mid-level designers on a day-to-day basis
- Coordinate interior design efforts with architectural and external consultant teams
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and QA processes
- Interface directly with clients to manage expectations, presentations, and feedback
- Oversee and review design packages and documentation at all stages
Required Skills & Experience
- 10 years of professional interior design experience, ideally within cultural/public/hospitality sectors
- Prior experience as a Senior Interior Designer or Associate-level team lead
- Strong Revit and Adobe Suite skills; familiarity with FF&E and interior detailing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients and internal teams
- A portfolio demonstrating complex, large-scale or high-profile interior environments
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field
Why This Opportunity?
- Join a nationally recognized studio with a legacy of landmark public and cultural work
- Step into a leadership role with real autonomy and visibility across projects
- Work in an environment that values strong process, smart design, and thoughtful collaboration
- Hybrid flexibility, long-term growth, and exposure to some of the most culturally impactful projects in the city
