Service Engineer / Field Service Technician / Hydraulic Engineer is required to join a leading engineering manufacturer.

The successful Service Engineer / Field Service Technician / Hydraulic Engineer will provide mechanical repair, servicing, maintenance, and installation of hydraulic systems across a range of engineering industries in the UK, with a primary focus in Leeds and the Northern region, including Yorkshire and Scotland. Full product training will be provided.

The Hydraulic Service Engineer / Service Engineer / Field Service Technician / Hydraulic Engineer will ideally have a mechanical service and commissioning background, with exposure to hydraulic systems such as pumps, valves, actuators, and related hydraulic components, along with the ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and valve timing diagrams.

  • Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE

  • Overtime: 1.5x standard rate, double for Sundays/nights

Service Engineer / Field Service Technician / Hydraulic Engineer Role

  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic faults, including variable displacement pumps, proportional valves, and servo-controlled components.

  • Perform installations, rebuilds, and maintenance of hydraulic systems to OEM standards.

  • Troubleshoot and interpret hydraulic schematics and valve timing.

  • Complete service documentation and customer orders, including job sheets and inspection reports.

  • Assist with larger projects on the shop floor when required.

  • Field-based role covering the UK, with the candidate based in Leeds

Hydraulic Service Engineer Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is advantageous.

  • Proven experience in hydraulic systems service and maintenance (preferably with exposure to pumps, valves, and actuators).

  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic cylinder repair (preferred but not essential, training provided).

  • Strong fault-finding skills and mechanical aptitude.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Based around Leeds with a willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally work away from home.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, fluid mechanics, and basic electrical components.
