UPS Technician / Critical Power Technician / Field Service Technician

$40 - $60 per hour

A UPS Technician / Critical Power Technician / Field Service Technician is required for a critical power service role supporting UPS systems, battery solutions and mission-critical electrical infrastructure across an assigned service territory. This role is suited to an experienced technician with hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing UPS and related power systems.

The UPS Technician will work on a range of critical power equipment, carrying out preventative maintenance, diagnostics, installations and emergency response activities while delivering safe and professional service to customers.

UPS Technician / Critical Power Technician / Field Service Technician Benefits:

The UPS Technician / Critical Power Technician / Field Service Technician Role:

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters and related critical power equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and control system faults using schematics, test equipment, manufacturer documentation and technical knowledge.
  • Install, commission and replace UPS systems, battery strings, battery monitoring systems, maintenance bypass equipment and associated power infrastructure.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and restore customer systems while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Carry out battery testing, capacity testing, failure analysis and lifecycle replacement services.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance documentation and customer communications accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures and customer site requirements.

UPS Technician / Critical Power Technician / Field Service Technician Requirements:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switchgear, data centre infrastructure or other mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting critical power platforms from manufacturers such as Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB or comparable equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, power distribution systems and battery technologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment including multimeters, power quality analysers, battery testing equipment and related tools.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic system faults.
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the assigned service territory, including occasional overnight travel.
