An Intermediate Designer is required to join an in-studio architecture practice in New York City, working across a diverse range of project types and scales, including residential, mixed-use, workplace, adaptive reuse, cultural and institutional projects.
This is a design-led opportunity for an Intermediate Designer with strong conceptual judgement, architectural rigour and an interest in shaping ideas from early design through later project stages. You will work closely with design principals, technical teams and junior designers in a collaborative studio environment built around critique, dialogue and shared authorship.

The Intermediate Designer / Architectural Designer II Role:
- Lead design exploration across multiple scales and project types
- Develop massing, urban response, spatial organisation, design narrative and architectural detail
- Work alongside design principals, junior designers and technical teams across multiple projects
- Help ensure design intent is carried thoughtfully through design development
- Mentor and support junior designers through critique, guidance and example
- Participate in studio pin-ups, design reviews and ongoing design dialogue
- Contribute to clear communication, realistic project planning and strong design outcomes
Intermediate Designer / Architectural Designer II Requirements:
- 5–10 years of experience in design-forward architecture studios
- Experience in design-oriented offices with a strong culture of critique, collaboration and craft
- Ability to develop strong architectural concepts and carry them through multiple project phases
- Strong understanding of urban context, zoning, massing, spatial sequencing and architectural systems
- Clear verbal, graphic and visual communication skills
- Comfortable working within regulatory, structural and programmatic constraints
- Interest in mentorship, collaboration and long-term growth within a studio environment
- Currently authorised to work in the United States
