Lead Electrical Engineer – Power Systems & Energy Transition

Position Summary
As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will be the primary technical authority for the electrical discipline across the project lifecycle. From load flow analysis to Engineer of Record responsibilities, you will ensure that complex power generation projects are executed with the highest degree of safety and efficiency.
Work Location: Leawood, KS Compensation: Up to $150,000
Key Responsibilities

Discipline Leadership: Take full ownership of the electrical scope across EPC projects, managing the budget, schedule, and technical integrity.

Design & Analysis: Prepare and review critical deliverables, including single-line diagrams, load lists, equipment layouts, and area classifications.

System Studies: Lead and review complex engineering calculations, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, harmonics, grounding, and transient stability.

Equipment Specification: Develop data sheets and requisitions for HV/MV/LV equipment, including switchgear, transformers, and MCCs.

Technical Oversight: Provide rigorous review of third-party engineering partners while helping to build and mentor the internal engineering team.

Collaboration: Partner with integrated EPC teams and clients to resolve RFIs, manage change orders, and facilitate equipment buyouts.
Required Expertise

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience: 6+ years in power generation, fossil fuels, or heavy industrial electrical engineering.

Technical Mastery: Proficiency in protective devices, coordination techniques, and relay programming.

Codes & Standards: Expert application of ANSI, IEEE, API, and NEC codes.

Project Agility: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under compressed schedules.

Eligibility: US work authorization is required; must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Desired Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) License (Electrical – Power or I&C).

Experience with Aconex or similar document control systems.

Background in Owner’s Engineering, estimating, or proposal support.
