Monthly bonus up to $1500 dependant on performance
5 on 2 off shift pattern including weekend work
A growing renewable energy operator is seeking a Plant Operator to oversee the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facility in Malone, NY.
This role is hands-on and operational, focused on maintaining plant uptime, optimizing gas production, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. You will play a key role in day-to-day plant operations while supporting continuous improvement and long-term reliability of RNG production systems.
This position is ideal for an operations professional with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, experience in industrial or wastewater environments, and a proactive approach to safety, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities

Operate, monitor, adjust, and maintain digester and RNG upgrading equipment to maximize gas production safely and efficiently.

Execute proper startup and shutdown procedures in line with regulatory and safety requirements.

Support process optimization initiatives in collaboration with engineering teams to improve plant efficiency and performance.

Perform routine inspections, testing, and quality checks to ensure product gas meets specification.

Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.

Maintain accurate operational records, including production data, equipment status, and maintenance logs.

Enforce safety protocols and promote a strong safety culture across plant operations.

Respond to emergency situations in accordance with established procedures.

Participate in on-call rotations, including nights and weekends, as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical systems.

Experience operating and maintaining industrial processing equipment, ideally within renewable energy, RNG, biogas, or wastewater environments.

Understanding of RNG production processes, digester systems, and gas upgrading equipment.

Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Solid knowledge of OSHA and industrial safety regulations.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
Education & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Technical certifications or relevant coursework are an advantage.

Willingness to be on-call and respond after hours as needed.

Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. with no restrictions.
