Senior Field Service Engineer – Boilers

$100,000 to $150,000 + Overtime + Vehicle
A well-established, family-owned provider in the heat, energy, and fuel oil systems sector is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to deliver high-level field service and technical support across industrial and commercial customer sites in Northern New Jersey and New York City.
This role combines hands-on troubleshooting, commissioning, and service work across low- and high-pressure boiler systems, fuel oil systems, burners, and associated controls. The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical representative in the field, supporting customers while upholding high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and resolve boiler, burner, and fuel oil control issues reported by customers.

Perform installation, start-up, service, and maintenance activities on industrial and commercial boiler systems.

Identify required parts and scopes of work; coordinate with the sales team to generate follow-up repair and service quotations.

Configure, program, and commission combustion controls and related systems in accordance with engineering direction.

Provide complete documentation including updated configurations, programs, and marked-up drawings to home-office engineering teams.

Promote parts, service, and long-term support offerings while acting as a professional ambassador in the field.

Travel daily to customer job sites throughout Northern New Jersey and occasionally NYC.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong working knowledge of steam and hot water boilers, including low- and high-pressure systems.

Hands-on experience with gas, oil, and combination burners, combustion systems, and associated electrical and control circuits.

Experience calibrating transmitters and working with instrumentation and control hardware.

Knowledge of piping systems, fabrication, and welding practices.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in field environments.
Education & Experience

Minimum of 5 years of relevant field service or engineering experience within boiler, combustion, or thermal systems.

Valid driver’s license.
- OSHA certification preferred.

TWIC certification preferred.

Experience working in boiler rooms, cogeneration facilities, and industrial process environments.
